LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior forward Patrick Behan (Leesburg, Va./Notre Dame Academy) and freshman guard Bryan Cohen (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Abington Friends) swept the Patriot League weekly awards on Monday. In honor of their performances in Bucknell's 81-75 win over Drexel over the weekend, Behan was named Patriot League Player of the Week and Cohen was selected as the PL Rookie of the Week.
Behan scored 22 points in the Drexel victory, his second 20-point game of the year, and earned league player of the week honors for the first time in his career. He made 7 of 16 shots from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-point range. Two of those threes came at critical junctures in the second half, when the Bison rallied from 11 points down to claim the win. Behan also led the team with seven rebounds, and he was part of a Bucknell defense that held the Drexel starting frontcourt without a field goal in the game.
Behan now leads the team and ranks seventh in the Patriot League in scoring at 13.5 points per game, and after his career-high 11-rebound performance against Richmond on Monday night, he has taken over the Patriot League lead in rebounding at 6.5 per game.
Cohen was also a major contributor in the Drexel victory on Saturday. He tossed in 16 points, hitting all three of his 3-point attempts and 6 of 9 shots overall. Cohen scored 11 of his points during Bucknell's Sojka Pavilion-record 54-point second half.
Cohen has been outstanding as a rookie for the Bison, and he has now been named the league's rookie of the week twice this season. His 11.2 scoring average ranks third on the team and 12th in the Patriot League (second among freshmen).
Bucknell is 3-7 on the season and returns to action on Dec. 28 at Marist at 4 p.m.
