BRONX, N.Y. - The Bucknell men's cross country team concluded its season with the IC4A Championships, in the Bronx, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 22. The Bison placed 11th out of 26 teams, finishing with a score of 276. New Hampshire finished first (107), followed by Pittsburgh (137) and Rutgers (195).
Bison senior Joe Foley (Howell, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic) placed 28th overall to lead the Orange and Blue, finishing the five-mile race in 26 minutes, 32 seconds. New Hampshire's Nicholas Decrescen won the race with a time of 25:31, while Umar Saeed of NJIT finished second (25:32) in the 235-man field.
Christopher Boyd (Gaithersburg, Md./Thomas S. Whooton) finished second for Bucknell and 47th overall (26:46), and Dave Brown (Westborough, Mass./Westborough) was 51st (26:49). Also scoring for the Bison were Ian Shore (75th, 27:11) (South Orange, N.J./Seton Hall Preparatory School) and Kevin McGoldrick (79th, 27:13) (West Chester, Pa./Henderson).
"Although we finished 11th, we were very close to finishing fourth," Bucknell head coach Kevin Donner said. Albany, who finished fourth, had a team score of 230. "Joe Foley ran great, and I thought Chris Boyd ran nice as he continues to develop as a cross country runner."
Bucknell's top-runners concluded their season last week at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, where they finished 12th out of 24 teams.
The Bison cross country runners will now begin preparations for the indoor track & field season. The Bison's first meet, the Bison Open, is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, at Gerhard Fieldhouse.
