LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell cross country runner Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) was named Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. Fulmer, a freshman, was the top Bison runner at the 35th Annual Lehigh University Brooks Paul Short Run on Friday, Oct. 3, finishing 55th out of 301 competitors. She ran the 6K course in 21 minutes, 37 seconds. Bucknell placed 12th out of the 43 teams entered in the event.
Fulmer was previously honored this year as Patriot League Female Runner of the Week, on Sept. 23, following her fifth place finish out of 104 runners at the 5K Buffalo Stampede. Her time was 18:37. She also placed fifth overall at the three-mile Bison Open (17:39.51) on Aug. 29, and 10th at the 5,000-meter Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational (18:32) on Sept. 6.
Bucknell's women's cross country team is ranked No. 7 in the Mid-Atlantic region according to the latest National Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll, released earlier Monday. The Bison have placed in the poll every week so far this year, their highest ranking coming last week at No. 6.
The Bison cross country teams next compete on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J. This will be their final meet before the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Bethlehem, Pa.
