PRINCETON, N.J. – Gabriel Heiber (Caracas, Venezuela/Miami Beach (Fla)) scored three goals and Richie Hyden (Melbourne, Australia/Greenwich (Conn.)) and Howie Kalter (Durham, N.H./Phillips Academy Andover) registered their second multiple-goal outings in as many games as the No. 19 Bucknell men's water polo team defeated No. 18 Brown by an 11-9 score Saturday morning at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool. It was the second time this year the Bison defeated the Bears by the same 11-9 score.
Bucknell (14-12), which has won six of its last eight games, has now defeated Brown eight consecutive times.
Heiber, who is second on the team in goals with 34 this season, tallied his second-highest goal total of the season. He also drew a pair of ejections, vaulting his season total to a career-high 52.
Hyden, who netted four goals Friday against Princeton, posted five more points as he also dished out three assists. His 111 points this season are the most by a Bison since 2000. Kalter's two goals helped him register multiple scores in a game for the ninth time this season, including five of the last six games.
Nick Donahue (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lawrenceville) stopped nine shots while playing all 32 minutes in goal for Bucknell. He now has 151 saves on the season.
Alex Lampley (Reading, Pa./Governor Mifflin) helped the Bison earn 10 six-on-five chances as he drew five ejections, his second-highest total of the season. He now has 50 ejections drawn this year, the second-best single-season total in program history to Heiber's 52.
Bucknell's offense was solid early, tallying five goals in the first quarter. The Bison took a 6-5 lead into halftime and held on for the two-goal win. It was the fourth victory over a ranked foe this season for Bucknell.
The Bison have just one regular-season game remaining before the onset of the Southern Championships in two weeks. They will host St. Francis (N.Y.), their 15th ranked foe of the season, next Sunday, Nov. 2, at 12 p.m.
