Bucknell Cross Country Teams to Compete in Princeton Invitational on Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's cross country teams will participate in the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday, Oct. 18. This is the final meet for the Bison before the Patriot League Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Bethlehem, Pa. Princeton is also the site of this year's Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15. The Bison men's team is currently No. 14 in the latest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region poll, while the Bucknell women are ranked No. 7.
Other teams participating in Saturday's meet include Saint Joseph's, Maryland, Temple, UMBC, Lehigh, Mount St. Mary's, Loyola (Md.), Duquesne, Monmouth and the host Tigers. Princeton's top female runners will be at a pre-nationals event, but will still enter a group of runners, and Rutgers will send a men's team to compete. The Princeton women are ranked No. 5 in the nation and No. 1 in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Maryland's women's team is ranked No. 8 in the Mid-Atlantic region, while Duquesne is No. 12 and Loyola (Md.) places No. 15. Princeton's men's team places No. 3 in the Mid-Atlantic region, while Duquesne is No. 4 and Maryland places No. 8 again. Lehigh (No. 10), St. Joseph's (No. 12) and UMBC (No. 15) are also ranked.
The Bucknell cross country teams last ran on Friday, Oct. 3, at the 35th Annual Lehigh University Brooks Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. The Bison women's team placed 12th out of 43 on a 6K course, while the men finished 26th out of 45 teams in the 8K. Bucknell freshman Stephanie Fulmer (Pottstown, Pa./St. Pius X) placed 55th out of 301 participants, finishing with a time of 21 minutes, 37 seconds. She was named Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week and Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week following that performance. Caitlin Cavanaugh (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) was the next best runner for the Bison, finishing 89th with a time of 22:02, just ahead of Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) who was 90th (22:02).
Bucknell junior co-captain Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./Governor Dummer Acad.) led the Bison men, placing 71st out of 298 men, with a time of 24:55. Fellow co-captain Clinton Orloski (Butler, Pa./Slippery Rock) was next for the Orange and Blue, placing 117th (25:17), while Conor McNamara (Baldwin, N.Y./Chaminade) ran a 25:37, finishing 149th.
The men's race is scheduled for a 10 a.m., start while the women's will begin at 10:45 a.m.
