Bucknell Wrestling in Action at Columbia on Friday

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Bucknell wrestling team will be in action this Friday evening as the squad will head to New York City for a EIWA dual at Columbia, which is set to begin at 7 p.m. Coming off a 2-1 weekend down in Virginia, the Bison are 7-8-1 overall and 2-2 in the EIWA.

A Look at Bucknell's Probable Starters
- 125: Sophomore Greg Hart (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) is 12-8 on the season with a 4-4 record in duals, 1-0 against EIWA opponents. He posted one win last weekend, a 6-2 decision over Sean Katz of Liberty. Hart will likely face Columbia's Brandon Kinney (17-4) this Friday.
- 133: Sophomore co-captain David Marble (Harpursville, N.Y./Harpursville Area), who is currently ranked No. 19 nationally (InterMat/NWMA/NWCA Division I Individual Rankings) is 19-5 on the season after going 2-1 last weekend against Liberty, The Citadel and No. 22 Old Dominion. In duals, he holds a record of 12-4 and is 3-1 against EIWA foes with his lone loss coming to Seth Ciasulli of Lehigh (6-2). Against Anthony Easter of The Citadel, Marble picked up his fourth major decision of the season (14-4) and has five dual-meet wins for bonus points. He is expected to face Jerome Greco (4-13).
- 141: Sophomore Luke Chohany (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) holds an overall record of 15-10, adding to his win total with a 16-4 major decision over The Citadel's Kirby Thompson last Saturday. Chohany is 8-5 in duals on the season and is undefeated in the EIWA at 3-0. His probable opponent is Nick Standish (5-9).
- 149: Freshman Kevin LeValley (Hugo, Colo./Limon) is 18-9 on the season and 10-6 in duals (2-2 EIWA). His team-leading total of nine major decisions on the year ranks in the top-10 nationally. LeValley went 2-1 last weekend, posting a 10-0 major decision against Scott Clymer (Liberty) and a 5-0 win over Derek Royster (The Citadel). He is slated to take on Anthony Constantino (12-5).
- 157: Sophomore Brantley Hooks (Spartanburg, S.C./James F. Byrnes) improved to 10-7 on the year (6-4 in duals) after going 3-0 last weekend against Liberty, The Citadel and Old Dominion. He posted a 4-3 sudden victory over Shaun Smith (Liberty), downed Keith Koziel (Citadel), 6-2, and registered a 7-3 win against Dan Rivera (Old Dominion). Hooks is expected to face Matt Dunn (11-9).
- 165: Sophomore co-captain Andy Rendos (Brockway, Pa./Brockway Area) is currently ranked 19th nationally at this weight and leads the Bison with an overall record of 20-6. He is 12-4 in duals and 4-0 in the EIWA. Last weekend down in Virginia, Rendos went 2-1 with wins over Liberty's Chad Porter (9-4) and The Citadel's Brendan Prince (25-9) before dropping a heartbreaker to No. 20 Chris Brown of Old Dominion, 5-3, in overtime. Rendos' technical fall against Prince was his team-high seventh duals win for bonus points this season. He is slated to take on Victor Mocco (6-5).
- 174: Sophomore Shane Riccio (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) enters Friday's action with a record of 18-6. In duals, he is 11-1 and has won his last 10 straight. After beginning the season at 3-4, Riccio has gone 15-2 with his only two losses coming against then-No. 4 Steve Luke of Michigan and Mike Miller of Central Michigan. He is expected to take the mat against Travis Creagan (11-8).
- 184: Freshman David Thompson (West Liberty, Ohio/Graham Local) or freshman Jay Hahn (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley High School) will start at this weight. Thompson is 14-9 overall, 7-7 in duals and 2-1 against EIWA opponents. Hahn is 4-10 overall and 0-2 in duals. The Bison opponent at this weight will likely be Kenji Porter (10-8).
- 197: Sophomore Sean LoCurto (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) is 4-11 on the year (0-4 duals, 0-1 EIWA). He is expected to face Nick Sommerfield (10-4).
- 285: Sophomore co-captain George Hingson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) holds an overall record of 16-10, 8-7 in duals and is 3-1 against EIWA foes. Hingson has four pins on the season.
Scouting Columbia
- Columbia enters Friday's match-up with the Bison holding a record of 2-3 (1-1 EIWA) with wins over Wyoming (26-13) and American (27-22) and losses against Cal State Fullerton (37-6), Navy (31-9) and Michigan (43-3).
- Last season, the Bison posted a come-from-behind victory over the Lions at Harvard, 17-16, to set a new program record for wins in a season (12). Three members of this year's starting lineup for the Orange and Blue posted wins--Marble, Rendos and Hingson. Hingson clinched the victory with a 20-11 major decision over Kevin Lester in the heavyweight bout.
Recapping Last Weekend's Trip to Virginia
- Bucknell returned from a weekend trip to Virginia having captured victories over Liberty, 25-9, and The Citadel, 22-12, on Saturday, while falling to No. 22 Old Dominion, 30-6, on Sunday. Hooks and Riccio went undefeated on the weekend at 3-0. Marble, LeValley and Rendos all posted 2-1 records on the trip.
