LEWISBURG, Pa. -- On Saturday, Jan. 12, the Bucknell men's basketball program welcomed back 14 former players for its annual alumni game at Sojka Pavilion. The Orange squad, led by 12 points from Dave Steigerwald '96, overcame a 29-25 halftime deficit to pull out the victory.
Kevin Bettencourt '06 and Dy Cameron '00 were also in double figures for the winners with 10 points apiece, while Chris Niesz '05 added nine points. Other scorers for the Orange team included Ed Sigl '84 and assistant coach Jamion Christian with six points apiece, Jack Namvou '04 with four points, and Eric Picht '77 with a pair.
Although he was on the losing side, the story of the day had to be the tremendous play from Holland Mack '06 who led all scorers with 15 points. Mack, who probably is better well known for his musical talents than his play on the court, was a shoe-in for MVP honors until air-mailing a free throw late in the contest. He was by far the crowd favorite.
Assistant coach Dan Bowen '00 was the only other Blue team member to post double figures with 13 points, while Jordan Hardenbergh '03 and Mark Treiber '97 came close with eight points apiece. Other scorers for the Blue included Roland Webber '04 with six points, and Jeremiah Bennett '04 and head coach Pat Flannery '80 with two points. Coach Flannery also handed out his usual complement of assists as the floor general for the Blue team.
Other alumni and program members in attendance, but not participating in the game, included Doug Allen '88, Bison Hall of Famer Tommy Thompson '60, and former assistant coach Terry Conrad. Following the game, the alumni joined the current team for a lunch in the McGee Room.
