
Cindy Opalski Picks Up 350th Career Win as Bucknell Volleyball Team Tops Morgan State, 3-1

BALTIMORE, Md. - The Bucknell volleyball team topped Morgan State, 3-1, in Hill Field House on Wednesday evening to give head coach Cindy Opalski her 350th career victory and improve to 4-3 on the season. The Bison dropped game one, 30-22, but rallied to take the next three games by the scores of 30-27, 30-21 and 30-22, against the Lady Bears (0-4).
Senior Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) led the way for Bucknell with 22 kills, hitting .390 with just six errors in 41 attempts and completed her double-double with 15 digs, while also adding two service aces. Freshman Heidi Kamp (Springfield, Ore./Henry D. Sheldon) totaled 13 kills and two service aces, junior Emilie Hardinge (Darien Conn./Darien) followed with nine kills and eight digs and senior Tessa Mendez (Denver, Colo./Colorado Academy) contributed eight kills. Freshman Jocelyn VanOpdorp (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville) tied Henderson's match-best total of 15 digs and junior Shannon Pitsch (Oak Brook, Ill./Fenwick) recorded 44 assists and two service aces.
For Morgan State, Ivanti Bush posted a team-high with 14 kills and hit .357 (14-4-28) along with five digs. Esther Johnson had eight kills, Jeniqua Moran compiled six service aces and Jentri Fullove dished 26 assists.
The Bison will continue their stretch of road matches this weekend as the team will travel to Ithaca, N.Y., on Friday, Sept., 7, for the two-day Cornell Invitational, opening up with an exhibition contest against Montreal at 5 p.m.
