LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior co-captain Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) collected a pair of accolades on Monday as she was named the Patriot League Volleyball Baden Player of the Week and the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week. This marks the third time in her career that she has received each of the awards.
Henderson helped Bucknell to a 2-2 week with an average of 5.20 kills per game, a .361 hitting percentage and 3.07 digs per game as the Bison picked up wins over Morgan State (3-1) and Niagara (3-0).
Henderson posted double-doubles in three of four matches and reached the 20-kill plateau three times as well, tying her career high with 23 against Siena. She hit over .300 in all four matches, including posting a .390 attack percentage against both Morgan State and Cornell.
Her 78 kills on the week brought her career total to 1140, moving her into fifth on Bucknell's career list. She needs just seven more to move ahead of Emily Pomeroy for fourth all time.
On the year, Henderson is averaging 4.17 kills per game and is hitting .281 to lead the Orange and Blue in both categories. She paces the squad in total digs, as well, with 97.
The Bison will make their 2007 home debut this weekend as the squad will play host to the Bucknell Invitational on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 14-15. Bucknell will open up with an 8 p.m. match against Radford on Friday, following a match between Stony Brook and Saint Francis (Pa.), which will kick off the tournament earlier that evening at 6 p.m.
