LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell center Josh Linthicum and the rest of the East Coast All-Stars have won two straight games after dropping their first three on a 10-day tour of Holland and Belgium. Linthicum, who will be a junior for the Bison this season, has contributed in every game thus far, totaling 11 points, 17 rebounds, six blocked shots and four steals in five outings.
The team's first two games came against the Dutch National Team. Less than 24 hours after a trans-Atlantic flight, the East Coast All-Stars fell 84-68 in the first game ever played in the Netherlands brand new Olympic Arena. A night later, the Dutch squad again prevailed, 71-69, on two free throws with no time left on the clock.
The American squad fell to 0-3 following a 93-80 loss to Leuven, the preseason favorites to win their division in 2007-08. Still in Gent, Belgium on Sunday night, the East Coast All-Stars broke through with a hard-fought 83-76 victory over Optima Gent. Linthicum chipped in three points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks in the win.
A night later, Linthicum had three points, two rebounds a block and a steal in an 83-64 rout of St. Jan in Antwerp, Belgium. Game reports indicated that Linthicum gave the Belgians problems all night with his high pick and rolls.
The East Coast All-Stars have two games remaining, beginning Tuesday night in Brussels against Boom BBC.
