Bucknell Men's Tennis Suffers 5-2 Defeat to Colgate

LEWISBURG, Pa. - On Sunday, the Bucknell men's tennis team dropped its third Patriot League contest of the season to Colgate, 5-2, inside Gerhard Fieldhouse. Junior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper) and sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) posted singles victories for the Bison. The Orange and Blue fall to 6-11 (0-3 PL) on the season, while the Raiders improve to 7-9 (1-2 PL).
In doubles, sophomores Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) won their 10th doubles match of the season after defeating Chris Innes and Marshall Wheeler, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot. The team of Bednarek and freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) fell in the No. 3 spot to John Nogueras and Michael Yassky, 8-4. Colgate's Martin MacIntyre and Tyler Deck clinched the doubles point for the Raiders after they took down Reibeisen and junior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), 8-6, in the No. 2 spot.
Reibeisen tallied his fourth straight victory in the No. 1 spot by dropping Innes 6-4, 6-3, to improve to 10-5 on the season. Hascoe fell to Wheeler in the No. 3 spot, 6-2, 6-4, while Sandburg lost to MacIntyre in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 2 spot. Deck defeated Brenner in the No. 4 spot, 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the Raiders victory. Bednarek won his No. 6 singles match over Yassky, 6-2, 3-6, 10-3.
Bucknell will battle Lehigh on Thursday, Apr. 12, at 3:30 p.m., on the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts.
