2007 Penn Relays: Saturdays Results
LORETTO, Pa. - On Saturday, the Bucknell men's track and field squad wrapped up the final day of competition at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field, in Philadelphia, Pa., while also taking part in the Red Flash Invitational on the campus of Saint Francis (Pa.). Senior Joshua Kaehler (Hanover, Pa./South Western) posted an impressive first-place showing in the javelin with a distance of 218 feet, 6 inches (66.60m) at the Penn Relays, which qualified him for the NCAA East Regional and the IC4A Championships. His mark also ranks him second all-time at Bucknell.
Also in Philadelphia, freshman Steven Pierce (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) placed third in the javelin with a throw of 210-2 (64.07m), which was an NCAA East Regional and IC4A qualifying mark. Senior Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) notched a second-place performance in the hammer throw with a distance of 198-1 (60.38m). His distance was a new personal best and qualified him for the NCAA East Regional and IC4A Championships. Freshman Kyle Anthony (Barryville, N.Y./Eldred Academy) finished seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 47-5 (14.46m).
At the Red Flash Open, sophomore Jeremy Hollins (Feeding Hills, Mass./Gow School) placed first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.09 seconds. Freshman Clement Gyan (Yonkers, N.Y./Abraham Lincoln) posted a second-place finish in the 400 with time of 50.78.
Freshman Baron Willeford (New Orleans, La./Columbia Prep (N.Y.)) finished second in the 800 with a time of 1:58.58. Senior Derrin Pierret (Morristown, N.J./Morristown) recorded second-place showing in the 1,500 with a time of 4:07.17.
Bucknell will look to win its first league title since 1991 at the Patriot League Men's Track and Field Championships starting on Friday, May 4, in Bethlehem, Pa., on the campus of Lehigh.
