LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell sophomore midfielder Bonnie Buechel (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) repeated as a First Team All-Patriot League selection, and junior defender Lauren Deitrich (Collegeville, Pa./Hill School) was named to the All-Patriot League Second Team for the second straight year, the league office announced on Wednesday.
Buechel enjoyed another outstanding all-around season for the Bison. After posting 24 goals and 10 assists as a rookie in 2006, she surpassed those figures with 36 goals and 13 assists this spring and ranked seventh in the Patriot League in scoring. Buechel also led the Patriot League and ranked 11th in the nation in draw controls with 51, and she was third on the team in ground balls with 31.
A former walk-on, Buechel has now started all 33 games in her career. She will enter the 2008 season with a 20-game point-scoring streak intact. This year she had three or more goals in a game seven times, with a high of five in a thrilling 13-12 Patriot League win at Lehigh. She had multiple points in 12 of 16 games, including a career-high seven-point outing (4G, 3A) win a league victory over Lafayette last weekend. Buechel had 11 draw controls in a game against Saint Francis (Pa.) on Apr. 18, the most on record at Bucknell.
Like Buechel, Deitrich has never missed a start in her tenure at Bucknell, making it 48 straight this season. She was once again one of the league's best cover defenders, and she led the conference and ranked third in the nation in caused turnovers with 43. The Bison co-captain also ranked fourth in the league and second on the team in draw controls with 32.

Also an outstanding offensive player, Deitrich had 14 goals and four assists this season to rank fifth on the team in scoring. She had a season-high four points to go with four caused turnovers and four ground balls in last week's win over Saint Francis. Three days later Deitrich had a career-high seven ground balls along with five takeaways against Lafayette, and she was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Buechel and Deitrich helped Bucknell to a 7-9 record in 2007. The Bison tied with Colgate for fourth place in the Patriot League standings, but the Raiders claimed the fourth and final league tournament spot based on a head-to-head victory over Bucknell.
