
Bucknell Men's Tennis Downs Bloomsburg, 6-1

LEWISBURG, Pa. - On Wednesday, the Bucknell men's tennis team rolled over Bloomsburg, 6-1, in non-league action at the Bucknell Varsity Tennis Courts. The Bison, now 9-11 (2-3 PL) on the season, will host Binghamton on Thursday, Apr. 19, at 3:30 p.m., in their final regular season match of the spring.
The Orange and Blue earned the first point of the afternoon by sweeping the doubles matches. In No. 3 doubles, sophomore Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) teamed with freshman Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) to win their ninth match of the season over Mike Marra and Geoff Whitely, 8-1.
The junior squad of Ira Reibeisen (Rye Country Day-Upper) and Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) dropped Dan Phillips and Wil Biddle, 8-2, in the No. 2 spot. With the doubles victory, Reibeisen is now three wins shy of 100 for his career. The sophomore pair of Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) defeated Dan Gal and Ryan Glubo, 8-1, in the No. 1 spot. The team is now 12-8 on the season.
In single action, Brenner took down Biddle, 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot for the second point of the match. Brenner reached his 10th singles victory of the season. In the No. 2 spot, Sandburg dropped Glubo, 6-3, 6-1, to put Bucknell up 3-0. Young sealed the Bison victory with a 6-0, 6-0, win over Whitely, in the No. 5 spot.
Hascoe posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 spot against Phillips, while Bednarek defeated Marra, in the No. 6 spot, 6-0, 6-0. Both Hascoe and Bednarek earned their 10th singles victory of the season. In the No. 1 singles, Reibeisen fell to Gal in two-set super breaker, 6-1, 5-7, 11-9.
On Saturday, Apr. 21, Bucknell will participate in the 2007 Patriot League Tournament in Annapolis, Md., on the campus of Navy, as the fourth seed and will battle No. 5 Lehigh in the opening round. The match will begin at 8 a.m. The winner will go on to play No. 1 Navy in the semifinals Sunday at 10 a.m.
