LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman Chelsea Peters (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y./Cold Spring Harbor) earned her first Patriot League Rookie of the Week citation on Tuesday after she scored seven points during Bucknell's 1-1 week. This is the third time a Bucknell player has been named rookie of the week, as Carol Donohue copped the honor in back-to-back weeks in March.
Peters had a big day in Bucknell's 19-12 victory over Wagner last Thursday. She registered four goals and an assist, along with a career-high six draw controls and two ground balls. Peters had two goals and an assist to spark the Bison to an early 8-1 lead, then after Wagner rallied within one goal in the second half, Peters scored twice in 6-0 run that put the game away.
Peters also had a goal and an assist in the team's loss at American on Saturday.
A starter at attack in all 13 games this season, Peters has 20 goals and three assists for 23 points. She ranks 12th in the Patriot League in goals per game and 20th in points per game.
Bucknell is 5-8 overall and 1-3 in the Patriot League. The Bison host Saint Francis (Pa.) in a non-conference game on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Graham Field, and they have two more home games this weekend, on Saturday against Patriot League rival Lafayette and Sunday against Ohio State.
