LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second week in a row, the Bucknell women's lacrosse team claimed three of the four Patriot League weekly honors. After extending their winning streak to four games with victories over Manhattan (12-6) and Lehigh last week (13-12), the Bison learned on Tuesday that senior defensive midfielder Lauren Kremer (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, freshman goalie Katie Hartsock (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) was selected as Goalie of the Week and freshman attacker Carol Donohue (West Babylon, N.Y./West Babylon) was named Rookie of the Week.
Hartsock and Donohue were both honored for the second straight week, while Kremer earned her first career citation.
Kremer was one of many heroes in Saturday's thrilling one-goal victory over Patriot League rival Lehigh. She scored two goals in the first half to help the Bison rally from an early three-goal deficit, but her biggest play of the day came on the defensive end with Bucknell clinging to a 13-12 lead in the final five seconds of the game. With a Lehigh attacker trying to drive to the cage for the tying goal, Kremer drew a charging foul to return possession to the Bison, and they were able to drain the last few seconds of the clock to preserve the important league win. In the two games last week, Kremer totaled five ground balls, five caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Hartsock last week totaled 23 saves, giving her a .561 save percentage in the two games. The rookie netminder has played every second in goal this season, and with four straight strong showings has pushed her season save percentage over .500 at .503.
Donohue continued her scoring spree last week, tallying 11 points in the two victories. She had five goals and one assist for a six-point outing against Manhattan last Thursday, then she had a goal and four assists in the Lehigh victory.
Donohue has registered at least four points in five straight games, and she now leads the team in scoring with 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists). All 26 points have come in the last five games. Donohue now ranks fourth in the Patriot League in points per game, fourth in assists per game and sixth in goals per game.
Bucknell is now 4-3 on the season, outscoring their opponents 54-32 during the current four-game winning streak. The Bison have a non-league game at home on Wednesday night against UC Davis before traveling to Colgate on Saturday afternoon.
