CONWAY, S.C. - The Bucknell track and field squads wrapped up the two-day Shamrock Invitational on the campus of Coastal Carolina Saturday. Senior Joshua Kaehler (Havover, Pa./South Western) won the javelin with a toss of 199 feet, 10 inches (60.90m), which was an IC4A qualifying mark, while senior Nina Reinhardt (Northport, N.Y./Northport) posted a first-place finish in the heptathlon with 4,581 points, which qualified her for the ECAC Championships.
Also in the javelin, freshman Steven Pierce (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) threw a distance of 188-02 (57.35m), which was good for third place and made him an IC4A qualifier. Senior Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) notched an NCAA regional and IC4A qualifying mark after he finished fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 181-04 (55.28m). Senior Sean Egan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Fordham Prep) ran a time of 9 minutes, 0.20 seconds in the 3,000-meter run, which was good for third.
Senior Marjorie Grap (Van Ettan, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) finished second in the discus with a distance of 149-05 (45.54m). She also posted a sixth-place showing in the shot put and hammer throw with marks of 41-11 ¼ (12.78m) and 179-03 (54.64m), respectively. Junior Beverly Rogers (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) notched a fourth-place showing in the javelin with a distance of 134-02 (42.47m).
Seniors Catherine Trentacoste (Garden City, N.J./Garden City) and Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) finished back-to-back in the 400 hurdles. Trentacoste crossed the line in third place with a time of 1:03.44, while Sawko broke the plane at 1:04.91. Trentacoste also finished sixth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.03, while teammate, Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) ran a time of 15.55, which was good for seventh.
Bucknell will compete in the Susquehanna Invitational in Selinsgrove, Pa., and the George Mason Invitational in Fairfax, Va., on Saturday, March 24, 2007.
