Bucknell Cross Country Set For IC4A/ECAC Championships On Saturday

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's cross country teams are prepared to run at the IC4A Championships for the men and ECAC Championships for the women, this Saturday, Nov. 17 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The IC4A 5-mile Championship race will begin at 10:15 a.m. followed by the ECAC 5,000-meter Championship race at 11:00 a.m. The IC4A 5-mile University Division race is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and the ECAC 5,000-meter University Division race will follow at 12:15 p.m.
Concerning this weekend's race, head coach Kevin Donner notes, "For the past three years we have used the IC4A/ECAC Championships as a developmental meet to give our non-varsity runners an opportunity to contribute in a championship meet and get some experience."
Donner adds, "Obviously our focus was on the Patriot League Championship and the Mid-Atlantic Regional meet for our top runners. We plan to run our No. 8 runners and below in the University Division races as opposed to the Championship Division Races. We hope to come home with some hardware."
Last season, the Bison women placed second out of 18 teams, tallying 118 points to tie Binghamton and finish behind Colgate in first (47 points). The Bison men took fourth out of 19 teams with 161 total points, behind first-place Fordham (61), second-place Binghamton (140) and third-place Army (142).
Bison Cross Country Notebook
On the Women at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 10 -
- The Bison women placed ninth in a field of 28 teams, tallying 314 points. Princeton took home the title on the women's side with 56 points.
- In the 6K race, senior Erin Cranmer-Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock Area) led the Bison in 43rd with a time of 21:46.00. Senior Christine Totten (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) followed in 55th with a time of 21:59.00 and junior Gillian Nordquist (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston) finished 57th in 22:01.
- Rounding out the top-five finishers for the Bison women were freshman Alexa Griffiths (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua) in 75th with a time of 22:22.00 and freshman Sarah Moniz (Topsfield, Mass./Masconomet Regional) in 84th with a time of 22:30.00.
On the Women at the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 27 -
- The Bison women tallied 58 points to defend their Patriot League Championship title, tying Navy for first place.
- In the 6K race, Cranmer-Hart led the Bison with a sixth-place finish in 21:42.20 to make first team all-league.
- Totten and Nordquist made second-team all-league, finishing eighth (21:44.90) and ninth (21:50.00), respectively.
- Rounding out the top-five finishers for the Bison women were Moniz in 16th with a time of 22:05.30 and senior Offeibea Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) in 19th with a time of 22:12.80.
On the Men at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Nov. 10 -
- The Bison men placed 11th out of 28 teams, tallying 339 points, while Georgetown took the title on the men's side with 42 points.
- In the 10K race, senior Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Academy) led the Bison men with a 25th-place finish in 31:03.00. Junior Clinton Orloski (Butler, Pa./Slippery Rock) followed in 65th with a time of 31:49.00 and senior Andrew Corral (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) was right behind in 66th with a time of 31:49.00.
- Rounding out the top-five finishers for the Bison men were sophomore Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./Governor Dummer Academy) in 87th (32:13.00) and freshman Stephen Dorsey (North Wales, Pa./Casalle Collegiate) in 96th (32:27.00).
On the Men at the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 27 -
- The Bison finished in fourth place with 95 points, behind first-place American (47), second-place Navy (48) and third-place Army (78).
- In the 8K race, Campbell led the Bison men with a sixth-place finish in 25:48.30 to make first-team all-league.
- Orloski was the next finisher for Bucknell and made second-team all-league with a 13th-place finish in 26:37.90.
- Rounding out the top-five finishers for the Bison men were Huebner in 22nd (26:53.90), senior Michael Gibney (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River) in 26th (27:08.30) and Corral in 29th (27:13.30).
Honors and Rankings -
- On Oct. 31, Nordquist was named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She holds a cumulative grade-point average of 3.91 and earned her second all-league honor after scoring for the Bison at the Patriot League Championships for the second time of her career.
- At the Patriot League Championships, on Oct. 27, Campbell earned a first-team all-league selection on the men's side and Cranmer-Hart made first-team all-league for the women. Additionally, Orloski received a second-team all-league nod for the men while Totten and Nordquist made second-team all-league for the women.
- On Oct. 2, Campbell and Griffiths notched Patriot League weekly honors. Campbell was named PL Male Runner of the Week and Griffiths was named PL Female Rookie of the Week.
- Campbell notched Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week Honors on Sept. 24 for his second-place finish of 148 runners in the 10K race at the Western Ontario International Invitational.
- For his first-place finish at the Bison Open, Campbell earned Patriot League Runner of the Week Honorable Mention for the men on Sept. 5. Campbell earned his second Honorable Mention on Sept. 25 for leading the men in the Western Ontario.
- Dorsey notched Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 11 after leading the Bucknell freshman class for a second consecutive week. At the Bison Open, on Aug. 31, he was the highest finisher of Bison newcomers, and was the top finisher for the all-freshman squad at the Bloomsburg Invitational on Sept. 8.
- On Aug. 28, the Bucknell women's cross country team took the No. 1 spot in the Patriot League Preseason Poll with 96 points and 13 first-place votes. On the men's side, Bucknell tied with Army for the third pick in the league preseason poll released with 67 points.
