Bison Tennis Finishes With Day Three Of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up a three-day weekend at home with the third round of singles in the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday.
On the men's side, the Bison won all eight of their matches played on day three. Senior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) defeated Joe Goldstein of UConn in Flight 1 (6-4, 6-2) while junior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) topped Ben Schueler of UConn (3-6, 6-0, 10-4) in Flight 2. In Flight 3, freshman Anton Kovic (Montreal, Canada/Milton Academy - Mass.) won by default over Cosmin Chiujdea of NJIT.
Also picking up wins on day three were sophomore Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) over Charlie Feldman of Quinnipiac in Flight 4 (6-3, 6-3), freshman Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) over Tom Curren of Quinnipiac (6-0, 2-0) in Flight 5, junior Jonathan Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) over Tim Weimen of NJIT (default) in Flight 6, senior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) over Vinny Corvari of Quinnipiac (6-1, 6-3) in Flight 7, and junior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) over Mike Bobitski of UConn (6-0, 6-3) in Flight 8.
On the women's side, freshman Dara Dwojewski (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) won her Flight 4 match over Amanda Petruzzi of Quinnipiac (6-3, 6-1) and junior Camille Simonetti (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) defeated Nikki Adams of Quinnipiac (6-4, 6-2) in Flight 8. Freshman Lauren Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's School for Girls) and Renee Weissend (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) won by default against Fatima Kasem of NJIT in Flight 3 and Chirori Koike of NJIT in Flight 6, respectively.
For the men, singles winners for the weekend are as follows: Reibeisen of Bucknell for Flight 1, Brian Mikkelson of Quinnipiac in Flight 2, Sean Pease of Quinnipiac in Flight 3, Hascoe of Bucknell in Flight 4, Malloy of Bucknell in Flight 5, Tom Cook of UConn in Flight 6, Young of Bucknell in Flight 7, and Bednarek of Bucknell in Flight 8. Brenner and Sandburg of Bucknell won Flight 1 doubles, while Mikkelson and Pease of Quinnipiac took Flight 2, Markus and Cook of UConn took Flight 3, and Bobitski and Ribchinski of UConn took Flight 4.
On the weekend, singles winners for the women are as follows: Mary Wilson of Quinnipiac in Flight 1, Jackie Herb of Quinnipiac in Flight 2, Adrienne Markison of Quinnipiac in Flight 3, Jess Porter of UConn in Flight 4, Ali Campitiello of UConn in Flight 5, Megan Doran of UConn in Flight 6, Katie Moritz of UConn in Flight 7, and Alison Koch of UConn in Flight 8. Doci and Toor of NJIT won Flight 1 of doubles, while Petruzzi/Herb of Quinnipiac won Flight 2, Campitiello and Doran of UConn won Flight 3, and Steinert and Kono of Quinnipiac won Flight 4.
The Bison are now set to prepare for the ITA Regionals, Oct. 18 - 20 in Princeton, N.J. for the men, and Oct. 19 - 21 in Norfolk, Va. for the women.
