LEWISBURG, Pa. - The men's basketball team's annual Blue-Orange scrimmage will have a bit of a different twist this year. Tuesday night's contest will feature four special student sideline coaches, headlined by standout men's soccer goalie and well-known Sojka Psycho Joey Kuterbach.
The scrimmage is free and open to the public, and will begin at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion.
Kuterbach and fellow seniors Christina Tvardek, Nick Young and Matt Saylor were selected to take part as sideline coaches. Kuterbach and Tvardek will be on the Blue bench, while Young and Saylor will be on the Orange bench.
Head coach Pat Flannery has set the lineups for the scrimmage. The Blue team will be captained by senior guard John Griffin. Joining Griffin will be Justin Castleberry, G.W. Boon, Stephen Tyree, Josh Linthicum, George Medrano and Matt Fiery.
Senior Rob Thomas will captain the Orange squad, which also consists of Jason Vegotsky, Darryl Shazier, Patrick Behan, Zach Evans and Todd O'Brien.
The game will be officiated and played under normal NCAA rules and regulations. Last year, the Blue team prevailed 62-59 behind 13 points and two clutch free throws from Darren Mastropaolo.
The Blue-Orange scrimmage kicks off a busy preseason stretch for the Bison, who will face East Stroudsburg in an exhibition game on Sunday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. The East Stroudsburg game will be a ticketed event, however tickets will be available free of charge at the door beginning at noon.
On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the Bison will host their annual Tip-Off Reception at 7 p.m. at the Towne Tavern on Market Street in Lewisburg. The $5 admission fee includes food and beverages, as well as raffle tickets for basketball-related prizes. Head coach Pat Flannery will introduce this year's team, and coaches and players will offer their thoughts on the upcoming season.
The Bison Mania pep rally will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 9 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion. This event is also free and open to the public. Bucknell's pep band, cheerleaders and dance teams will all perform at Bison Mania, and the men's and women's teams will be introduced. There will be a number of fan and student-interactive contests, including a chance to make a shot for $10,000, and prizes will be awarded to the most spirited groups.
