Bucknell Notes
- As has been the case in recent years, Bucknell is once again playing a very difficult schedule this season. The Bison have faced 12 ranked teams and have two more on their schedule for this weekend. The Bison are 5-7 against teams ranked in the top 20.
- Despite posting a 1-4 record on its recent trip to California, Bucknell was outscored by just five goals. Three of the losses came by slim two-goal margins. Overall, the Bison have outscored opponents 206-162 this season.
- Bucknell's potent offensive attack has been very balanced this year. Jason Rechel leads the team with 42 goals, but four other players (Mark Masterson, Richie Hyden, Kyle Roslyn, Josh Sunday) are clustered between 22 and 29 goals. Additionally, four players have already registered at least 40 points, the same amount as all of last year.
- Freshman Miles Gilhuly saw increased playing time in goal during Bucknell's trip to California. The Orinda, Calif., native earned three starts and totaled 32 saves to boost his season total to 48. His save percentage while on the road trip was .552 and he now has a team-best .505 save percentage this season.
- Bucknell remained ranked in this week's national polls, dropping from No. 15 to No. 16. The Bison have been ranked all season.
- Jason Rechel earned CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week honors earlier this week. The senior co-captain registered seven goals, six assists and three steals in Bucknell's three games at the SoCal Tournament. He also posted a pair of three-goal outings.
Weekend Opponents
- Bucknell will face league foes Navy, Johns Hopkins and George Washington in their pools this weekend. Additionally, the Bison will take on non-league opponents Harvard and Air Force, both in Annapolis, Md. The Bison own all-time winning records against four of their weekend foes, trailing the all-time series against only Navy (14-65). Bucknell is 29-9 against George Washington, 27-13 against Johns Hopkins, 13-7 opposite Harvard and 6-2 vs. Air Force.
- This weekend's opponents are found throughout the national poll. Navy (No. 11) and Air Force (No. 15) are both nationally ranked, while Harvard and Johns Hopkins are both in the "also receiving votes" category. George Washington has been on the verge of the national poll for much of the season as well.
Up Next
- Bucknell will be off the final weekend in October as it gears up for postseason play. The Bison will begin postseason play the first weekend in November with the Southern Championships. This year's Southern Championships will be held in Annapolis, Md., the site of three of Bucknell's games this weekend.
