Bucknell Men's Tennis To Wrap Up Quinnipiac Invitational On Sunday

Hamden, Conn. - The Bucknell men's tennis team continued play at the Quinnipiac Invitational on Saturday, playing two rounds of singles and one round of doubles. The Bison had a doubles team advance to the final for both Flight A and Flight B after Saturday's matches.
In Flight A doubles, the Bison team of senior Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye Country Day-Upper School) and freshman Anton Kovic (Montreal, Canada/Milton Academy - Mass.) defeated Hughes and Feldman of Quinnipiac (8-4) in the semifinal round. The pair will face Mikkelson and Pease of Quinnipiac in the final round on Sunday.
Also in Flight A doubles, senior Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and freshman Mark Malloy (Bronxville, N.Y./Hackley School) had a bye in the semifinal of the consolation bracket and will face Weinstein and DeMeo of BU for the consolation title on Sunday.
In Flight B doubles, the Bison pair of junior Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif/Canyon) and sophomore Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) topped Kasyanov and Conrad of Sacred Heart in the semifinal round (9-8) and will look to face McGuire and Gart of Rhode Island on Sunday in the final round.
After Friday's doubles matches, Bucknell's junior Daniel Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergen Catholic) and junior Jamie Watson (Darien, Conn./Darien) advanced to the semifinal in the consolation bracket for Flight B and will play Adams and Mehmeti of BU on Sunday.
In the first day of singles action, Reibeisen defeated Miron Nissim of BU (6-1, 6-3) in the first round of Flight A, but lost his second match to Kirill Kasyanov of Sacred Heart (3-6, 6-0, 10-5) in the second round. Sandburg also played in Flight A singles, winning his first match against Giulio Gallarotti of BU (6-3, 6-7, 10-5) but falling in the second round to Fairfield's Ryan Berthod (6-2, 2-6, 10-6).
Hascoe played in Flight B singles and won his first match against Sean Pease of Quinnipiac (4-6, 7-6, 12-10), but fell in the second round to Jeff Cote of URI (6-3, 1-6, 10-8).
Young and Kovic advanced to the semifinal in Flight C singles. Young picked up wins against Sacred Heart's Cole Conrad (7-6, 6-4) in round one and URI's AJ Nelson (2-6, 6-4, 10-8) in round two. He will face Christian Malerba of UConn in his third match, to be played on Sunday. Kovic won his matches against Armir Mehmeti of BU (6-1,6-3) in the first round and Joe Nuara of Quinnipiac (6-1, 6-3) in the second round. He will face Tom Cook of UConn in the semifinal.
In Flight D singles, Bednarek advanced to the semifinal after defeating Bob Kelly of Fairfield (7-6, 6-2) in the first round and Aaron Ribchinsky of UConn (7-6, 4-6, 10-3) in the second round. He will face Dixon Simmons of Rhode Island on Sunday.
The Quinnipiac Invitational will wrap up on Sunday with two more singles rounds and the final round of doubles.
