LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman diver Eliza Massie (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) was named the Damon's Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday following her outstanding performance on the boards at Columbia last Saturday.
Against the Lions, Massie was one of two event winners for the Orange and Blue in the team's 187.5-109.5 setback at the Uris Swimming Center in New York, N.Y. She placed first in one-meter diving with a personal-best mark of 252.00 to bring her within less than five points of the Bucknell record for one-meter, six optionals, as she currently ranks second on the program's top-10 list.
Massie also managed a solid outing on the three-meter board as she scored 245.00 points and was second to only Columbia's Shannon Hosey who posted a mark of 293.00 that qualified her for the NCAA Zone Championships. Massie currently holds the Bison record in the event with her personal-best score of 257.54, which she set at Princeton back on Jan. 6.
Bucknell will return to action this coming Saturday, Jan. 27, when the team will play host to Lehigh its final dual meet of the season, beginning at 2 p.m. in Kinney Natatorium.
