Bucknell Volleyball Falls to Army, 3-0

WEST POINT, N.Y. - After picking up a win in its first league match of the season on Friday night, the Bucknell volleyball team fell to Army, 3-0 on Saturday in Gillis Field House with the Black Knights taking the games by the scores of 30-21, 30-15 and 30-15. The result leveled the Bison at 1-1 in the Patriot League, 9-7 overall, and Army improved to 3-0 in league play, 12-2 on the season.
Junior Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) had a team-high seven kills for the Bison and six digs, while senior Sarah Groman (Hollister, Calif./San Benito) followed with five kills. Sophomore Shannon Pitsch (Oak Brook, Ill./Fenwick) added 21 assists and six digs and senior Kristen Sydlowski (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) chipped in with nine digs.
Elizabeth Lazzari posted a double-double for the Black Knights, totaling a match-best 21 kills and 17 digs and hit .375. Briana Stremick contributed 10 kills and hit .529 with four blocks and setter Maureen Bannon aided the offense with 38 assists and also registered five blocks and nine digs.
Bucknell returns to action next weekend, Sept. 29 and 30, when the team will be on the road for matches against Lehigh and Lafayette on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
