Bucknell Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to St. John's at Fairfield Tournament

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Bucknell volleyball team suffered a 3-0 setback to St. John's it its first of two Saturday matches at the Fairfield Tournament. With the loss, the Bison fell to 0-2 while the Red Storm moved to 2-0.
Senior Kristen Sydlowski (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) paced the Orange and Blue with eight kills and added nine digs and junior Jenna Henderson (Elk Grove, Calif./Laguna Creek) followed, tallying six kills and seven digs. Senior Amanda Grossmann (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and sophomore Emilie Hardinge (Darien, Conn./Darien) posted five kills apiece. Sophomore Sherri Liang (Gaithersburg, Md./Col. Zadok Magruder) recorded a career-high 10 digs to lead the Bison and classmate Shannon Pitsch (Oak Brook, Ill./Fenwick) posted 23 assists.
For St. John's, Patti Hardimon led the squad with 12 kills to go along with eight digs, while Dana Demayo followed with 10 kills and a team-high 13 digs. Setter Casie Brooks aided the offense with 38 assists and Kathleen Yee added 12 digs.
In game one, Bucknell led 2-1 after a kill by Hardinge, but the Red Storm logged the next six points to jump in front by a 7-2 margin and led the rest of the frame on the way to a 30-24 win.
Once again in game two, the Bison led early, however St. John's tied the score at 10, then went on a 7-1 run and held the advantage to take the game, 30-18.
After jumping out to a 10-4 lead, the Red Storm clinched the match victory with a 30-15 win in game three.
