LEWSIBURG, Pa. - Bison Live!, the weekly interactive radio program focusing on Bucknell Athletics, will have a new home in 2006-07. The show, entering its fifth season, will be held every Thursday evening from 7-8 p.m. at Damon's Grill at Rt. 15 and Walter Drive in Lewisburg.
Doug Birdsong serves as the host of Bison Live!, which airs live on Eagle 107 radio and BucknellBison.com. The show includes interviews with a variety of coaches, student-athletes and other special guests from the world of Bison Athletics. The live audience is invited to ask questions on the air, with trivia and other prizes given away during the commercial breaks.
Bucknell head football coach Tim Landis will have a regular segment on the show throughout the football season, while each of the other fall coaches and student-athlete representatives will make appearances as well. Men's and women's cross country coach Kevin Donner will join Landis on the first show of the season, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 31.
The new Bison Live! show will take place in the "Clubhouse" area of Damon's, with four giant video screens serving as a colorful backdrop. Bucknell videos and highlights will be shown on the screens during the program, and Damon's will have specials on food, beverages and merchandise.
"We are extremely excited about Damon's becoming the home of Bison Live!," said director of athletics and recreation John Hardt. "In the short time the restaurant has been open, the folks at Damon's have become tremendous supporters of Bucknell Athletics. There was a very spirited atmosphere there during some of Bucknell's televised basketball games last winter, and bringing our popular Bison Live! program to the sports-themed Damon's clubhouse is a natural."
"Damon's likes to celebrate all that's right about athletics in this area, and there are so many wonderful things going on at Bucknell that this is a perfect fit," said Damon's owner Chris Baylor. "We really want the atmosphere at Damon's to be interactive, and Bison Live! is another way to enhance that experience for our customers and for all Bison fans."
