LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell junior Ryan Gryskevicz (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) was named Baseball Player of the Week by the Patriot League office on Monday. The award marked the second-straight week a Bison player has been honored, the third time this season and a career first for Gryskevicz.
Gryskevicz batted .500 (9-for-18) over five games last week, including helping Bucknell to a 3-1 series win over Navy by going 8-for-14 at the plate against the Mids. He totaled five runs scored, five RBI, a double, three walks and two stolen bases as the Bison claimed the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament and tied with Lehigh for the regular season crown.
In a 3-0 game one victory against Navy, Gryskevicz recorded three of Bucknell's four hits in the contest, going 3-for-3. He followed up by plating the go-ahead runs for the Orange and Blue in a come-from-behind 10-8 game two victory and currently has a six-game hitting streak.
Bucknell (23-22, 13-7 Patriot League) will remain idle until the Patriot League Tournament on May 13, when the Bison will take on Lafayette in Bethlehem, Pa., in a single elimination game for the right to face Lehigh in a best-of-three series for the league championship.
