Jason Buursma Named Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell baseball sophomore Jason Buursma (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside School) was named Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday after playing a key role in both of the Bison's wins last week.
In a 5-4 victory over Mount St. Mary's, Buursma went 3-for-4 with two triples and scored two runs, including the game-winner. He also pitched a scoreless two-thirds of an inning in that contest, allowing two hits with no walks and one strikeout to pick up his second save of the season.
Buursma helped Bucknell escape a sweep by Lehigh in the weekend series by going 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two walks in Sunday's 7-5 Bison win. He earned the save in the game as well. He tossed 1.2 innings and allowed no runs on three hits with no walks and two strikeouts.
Over seven games last week, Buursma hit .400 (8-for-20) with three runs scored, a double, two triples and two RBI. On the mound he posted a perfect 0.00 ERA in 4.1 innings of work with two saves, three walks and four strikeouts.
So far this season in 25 games, Buursma is batting .313, which ranks 21st in the Patriot League, and has 13 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, one home run and 10 RBI. His three triples tie for second-most in the league. In eight relief appearances, Buursma has a 1.08 ERA over 16.2 innings and opposing hitters at batting just .224 against him. He leads the Orange and Blue with 19 strikeouts and has three saves on the year.
Bucknell returns to action on Tuesday, April 4, when the team will take on Susquehanna at 3:30 p.m. at Depew Field.
