Bucknell Track and Field Concludes Successful Weekend as Host of Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell track and field squads concluded a successful weekend at their own non-scoring Bison Outdoor Classic with two individuals on the men's team registering NCAA Regional qualifying marks in the hammer throw and one student-athlete for the women coming away as a regional qualifier in the pole vault.
For the Bucknell men, senior Dan Frake (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and junior Tyler Hoffman (Lewsiburg, Pa./Lewisburg) both posted NCAA Regional qualifying marks in the hammer throw as Frake took second with a throw of 189 feet, a personal record good for third in the Bucknell record books and Hoffman was third with a mark of 182-8, improving his lifetime best to sixth in program history.
On the women's side, junior Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler Area) qualified for the NCAA Regional with a height of 12-5 1/2 in the pole vault. In the women's 800-meter, junior Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) finished second with an ECAC-qualifying time of 2 minutes, 11.40 seconds.
Setting new personal-bests, which rank on the Bison top-10 all time were Buczko in the women's 100 hurdles who finished third with a time of 14.57 (4th All-time), senior Danielle Todman (Plainfield, N.J./Bishop George Ahr) who was second in the Heptathlon with 4161 points (5th All-time). Freshman Kerry Boyle (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton) placed third in the men's 400 hurdles in 55.18 (5th All-time), while junior Nina Reinhardt (Northport, N.Y./Northport) posted a jump of 18-5 3/4 to capture fourth in the women's long jump (6th All-time). Junior Chessa Forer (New York, N.Y./Deerfield Academy) came in fourth in the women's 100 with a time of 12.44 (8th All-time).
Other top finishers for the Bison men in Saturday's events included sophomore David Mante (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) as the runner-up in the pole vault with a mark of 14-11 and senior Matt Corbetta (Port Chester, N.Y./Port Chester) in the 400, crossing the finish line in fourth with a time of 49.79.
The Bucknell women's top finishers for Saturday included junior Lauren Bricker (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield Area) with a second-place 37-4 jump in the triple jump, junior Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) with a 136-3 throw, good for third in the discus, and junior Catherine Trentacoste (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) who took fourth in both the 100 hurdles (14.70) and the 400 hurdles (1:02.96).
The men's 4x400 relay team of Boyle, Corbetta, junior Eric Guja (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and sophomore Brian Mooney (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) won the event in 3:19.46 and the women's 4x400 relay squad of Trentacoste, junior Kat Allen (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga), freshman Megan Hathaway (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield), and junior Mariel Fink (Pennington, N.J./Hun School of Princeton) finished third with a time of 4:02.60.
The Bison return to action on Saturday, April 22, when the teams will play host to the Bucknell Quadrangular beginning at 9 a.m.
