LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell track and field program received its first Patriot League weekly honor of the outdoor season, the league office announced on Tuesday morning. Sophomore Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Acad.) was named the Track Athlete of the Week for his performance in the 5000-meter run on Saturday at the Fred Hardy Invite.
Campbell won the event with a personal-best time of 14 minutes, 49.24 seconds, which currently sits as the fastest time in the League, to earn the first weekly honor of his career.
In 2005, Campbell's outdoor career was cut short due to injury, however, the sophomore is expected to be a great threat in distance events during the remainder of the 2006 season.
The Orange and Blue will be back in action on Saturday, April 1, at the Liberty Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.
