Bucknell Women's Tennis Blanked by Richmond, 7-0

RICHMOND, Va. - Facing a team that recently lost to No. 5 North Carolina by one point, the Bucknell women's tennis team fell to Richmond 7-0 Sunday morning to complete its spring break trip. The Bison, who own a 2-5 overall record, went 0-4 over the past week.
In doubles play, Veronica Brown (Derwood, Md./Colonel Zadok Magruder) and Paulina Gamboa (Mexico City, Mexico/Greengates School) put up the biggest fight before losing 8-4 at No. 1 to Meghan Wolfgram and Jessica Hubbard. Chelsea Mills (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) and Ashley Globerman (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown) fell 8-2 at No. 2, while Caitlin Baffa (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) and JoAnna Grossman lost 8-0 at No. 3.
Globerman, who played at No. 4 singles, put up the biggest fight individually as she fell 7-5, 6-2 to Ashlee Vosters. Only Brown, who lost 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1, and Mills, who fell 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, were able to win a game in addition to Globerman.
"This Richmond team was one of the toughest we have played in the last four years," commented Bucknell assistant coach Stephen Monge. "We are hitting the ball well and took a lot of positives from today's match."
The Bison return home to host Delaware at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
