LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell University has finalized an agreement with The Licensing Resource Group, Inc., (LRG) to officially license Bison athletics products and apparel, director of athletics and recreation John Hardt announced. The licensing agreement, the first of its kind for Bison athletics, will promote and protect the Bucknell brand in a positive manner that will result in higher visibility and a broader distribution of school merchandise in the marketplace. In addition, LRG will help service and administer day-to-day activity with licensees.
"LRG is extremely excited to begin working with a prestigious institution such as Bucknell University," said Rik Fitton, university brand manager at LRG. "Bucknell has a great following with its alumni, students and fans. Part of our job is to make sure that there is Bucknell product out in the marketplace for them to help show their support. We are also out there to monitor the marketplace to make sure vendors that do produce Bucknell University products are officially licensed vendors through LRG. Overall, we are looking forward to a very long and rewarding relationship with Bucknell University."
"We are very pleased to be affiliated with one of the premier licensing groups in the nation in LRG," said Hardt. "There are legions of Bison supporters all across the nation, and this partnership with LRG will help bring Bucknell closer to each of them."
The Licensing Resource Group was founded in 1991 and currently represents more than 120 universities, athletic conferences and special properties nationwide in their trademark licensing interests. LRG provides administrative, brand management, merchandising and marketing services from offices in Holland, Mich., Iowa City, Iowa and Winston-Salem, N.C.
Bucknell sponsors 27 intercollegiate sports, including 14 for women, at the Division I level (I-AA football). It is a charter member of the Patriot League and has won the league's all-sports championship in 11 of the 15 years it has been contested. Bucknell annually ranks among the national leaders in graduation rates and ranks fourth in Division I in producing Academic All-Americans.
