LEWISBURG, Pa. - Juniors Ann Doty (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney) and Tyler Hoffman (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) of Bucknell's track and field team each picked up Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week awards, for the week of Feb. 6-11, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. This week marked the final week for the Patriot League's weekly honors.
Doty, the female Field Athlete of the Week, was recognized for the first time this season for her performance in the triple jump on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Bucknell Winter Classic. Not only did she win the event with a leap of 38 feet, 6 3/4 inches, she also qualified for the ECAC Championships. With Doty's honor, the Bison successfully swept the Female Field Athlete of the Week category this year.
On the men's side, Hoffman won the weight throw at the Classic and raised his personal best with a heave of 60-3 1/4, placing him second in the Orange and Blue record books. Hoffman, who qualified for the IC4A Championships at the first meet of the season back on Dec. 3, 2005, finished 2005-06 with three Patriot League weekly honors.
Doty set the best mark in the Patriot League this season with Saturday's jump, while Hoffman accomplished the same feat in the weight throw.
The Bison will compete for the League title this weekend, at the Patriot League Championships in Annapolis, Md., at Navy, starting on Friday, Feb. 17 and will conclude action on Sunday, Feb. 19.
