LEWISBURG, Pa. - Freshman Aubrey Rowe (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) was named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week Monday following a weekend where she scored a team-high 10 goals and dished out six assists to help lead the Bucknell women's water polo team to its first-ever 3-0 start to a season.
The highlight of the weekend for Rowe was a record-tying performance during a 17-6 victory over Cal State East Bay that closed out the weekend of play at the Maryland Terrapin Invitational. She registered five goals and five assists. The 10 points tied the program record held by Julie McLaughlin, who tallied six goals and four assists against Villanova in 2001. Rowe's five assists also tied the Bucknell single-game record held by Meredith Stevens and Adrienne Schober since 2001.
Rowe opened the weekend with four goals and one assist in her first career game, a 14-3 victory over Siena. She also contributed one goal to Bucknell's 9-6 win opposite Maryland.
The Carlisle, Pa., native stands first on the team in goals and points, and is second in assists. Excelling not just on the offensive end, Rowe leads the team in steals with six and has won four of five sprints.
Bucknell puts its undefeated record on the line at the Princeton Invitational this weekend. The Bison play No. 13 Indiana Friday night. They also face Wagner, Brown and Marist throughout the course of the weekend.
