LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's basketball team hosts Mansfield in an exhibition contest Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Sojka Pavilion, and a number of free tickets still remain for the game. The complimentary tickets will be available at the Sojka Pavilion Box Office beginning Saturday at 5 p.m.
Saturday's exhibition game will be Bucknell's only public showing against an opposing team this preseason, and it will be the team's final tuneup prior to the Nov. 11 season opener at Albany. The Bison are coming off a record-setting 27-5 campaign, when for the second straight year they won the Patriot League championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Senior co-captains Abe Badmus, Donald Brown and Chris McNaughton are back to lead Bucknell, which finished the 2005-06 season ranked No. 25 nationally in the final ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll, a first in program history.
Mansfield finished 14-14 overall and 7-5 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference in 2005-06. The Mountaineers are coached by 1997 Bucknell graduate Rich Miller, who was an All-Patriot League kicker and punter during his football playing days with the Bison.
Despite being located only about 70 miles apart along U.S. Route 15, Bucknell and Mansfield have met only once previously on the hardwood - 100 years ago. In 1906 the Bison prevailed 25-11 in Lewisburg.
