Bucknell Cross Country Teams Compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The Bucknell cross country teams participated in the 98th IC4A/22nd ECAC Cross Country Championships in the university division held in The Bronx, N.Y., at Van Cortlant Park. The women posted a second-place finish out of 18 teams with a total of 118 points, finishing behind Colgate (47). Binghamton (118), Army (146) and Towson (115) rounded out the top five. The men took fourth out of 19 teams with 161 total points, behind Fordham (61), Binghamton (140) and Army (142). Monmouth wrapped up the top five in the men's competition.
Leading the way for the women was freshman Molly Pritz (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport), who finished eighth overall and first for Bucknell with a time of 18 minutes, 52 seconds. Sophomore Kim Hassett (Falmouth, Maine/Falmouth) placed 19th with a time of 19:19, while Jennifer Grant (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) crossed the line with a time of 19:20, which was good for 21st place. Rounding out the Bison top five was junior Offeibea Hanson-Hall (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) and senior Molly Harms (Sterling Heights, Mich./Stevenson), who finished 32nd and 43rd, respectively. Hanson-Hall finished with a time of 19:36, while Harms crossed the plane with a time of 19:56.
"Our women raced fantastic to finish in second place," said head coach Kevin Donner. "Last year, we were 10th in the same race, so our team depth continues to improve."
The men were led by sophomore Joe Foley (Howell, Mich./Flint Powers Catholic), who crossed the line 12th overall with a time of 26:22. Freshman Andrew Huebner (Hampton Falls, N.H./Governor Dunmer Academy) placed 30th with a time of 27:05. Junior William Holleran (San Rafael, Calif./Saint Ignatius Academy) and senior Sean Egan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Fordham Prep) finished 35th and 38th, with times of 27:10 and 27:13, respectively. Rounding out Bucknell's top five was Derrin Pierret, who finished 53rd with a time of 27:36. Joe Foley really ran aggressive and has a great future ahead of him."
On Monday, Nov. 20, seniors Matt Forys (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Leanna Nastase (Beaverdale, Pa./Forest Hills) will compete in the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on the campus of Indiana State University. The women's race will begin at noon, while the men's race will follow at 1:15 p.m.
