Bucknell Women's Golf in Seventh at Halfway Mark of Spider Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. -- Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) shot an opening-round 79, one of only 11 sub-80 rounds in the field in tough scoring conditions, and the Bucknell women's golf team is in seventh place at the Spider Invitational after posting a team score of 334.
Loughney sits in a tie for eighth place with 18 holes still to play on Tuesday. Three others also shot 79, five strokes behind leader AnnMarie Dalton of High Point.
Virginia shot 311 on Monday to take a five-shot lead on Campbell. High Point (319), Marshall (327), Boston College (332) and host Richmond (333) are ahead of the Bison at the midway point of the tournament. Below Bucknell are James Madison (341), William & Mary (344), Longwood (350), Cleveland State (352) and The Citadel (387).
Also for Bucknell, Emily Chiodo (Strasburg, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) shot 83, Deirdre Moran (Bryn Mawr, Pa./Notre Dame Academy) carded an 85, Kathryn Batchelor (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) shot 87 and Teri Schlang (Albany, N.Y./Stratton Mountain School) had a rare off day with a 90.
Bucknell's final round of the fall season begins on Tuesday morning.
