Bucknell's Jason Vegotsky Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for Second Time this Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. - For the second time in the last four weeks Bucknell freshman guard Jason Vegotsky (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) has been named the Anaconda Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Vegotsky wins the honor after collecting a career-high 19 points in Bucknell's 74-52 victory at Navy on Saturday in the league opener for both teams.
Vegostky canned 5 of 8 attempts from 3-point range and 7 of 11 overall, and his 19 points led all players in the contest. He improved his league-leading 3-point percentage to .607 on the season (17-28).
Coming off the bench as part of a second unit that produced 41 points in the win over Navy, Vegotsky hit back-to-back 3-pointers to highlight a 20-3 Bison run to end the first half, breaking open a close game. He scored 11 points in the opening half and his total of 19 came in only 17 minutes of floor time.
On the season, Vegotsky is averaging 5.2 points per game and has 62 points in 100 minutes, the best points-to-minute ratio in the Patriot League.
Bucknell is now 10-3 overall this season, its best start since 1983-84, and 1-0 in the Patriot League. The Bison travel to American on Wednesday night for their fifth straight game away from home.
