LEWISBURG, Pa. -
The Bucknell men's basketball team on Monday will be able to remove the "TBA" from the Feb. 18 listing on its schedule, as ESPN is scheduled to announce the pairings for its televised games in the eBay Bracket Buster Saturday showcase. The pairings will be announced at 4 p.m. (EST) on ESPN and ESPN News. As the designated visiting team with the best record (16-3) and highest RPI (32), Bucknell is very likely to land a spot in one of the televised games.
This year's eBay Bracket Buster Saturday field has been expanded to 100 teams, representing 18 "mid-major" conferences. Fifty of those teams are designated as home teams and 50 were pre-selected as away teams. Of the 50 games, 11 are scheduled to be televised, with six contests on ESPN or ESPN2 and an additional five on ESPNU.
Monday's announcement will merely set the pairings for the televised contests. Game times will be announced on Feb. 7.
Bucknell's Bracket Buster opponent will visit Sojka Pavilion during the 2006-07 season.
Bucknell is the first Patriot League team to be included in the Bracket Buster event, which is now in its fourth year. The Bison have won seven straight games, all in Patriot League play, and stand alone in first place in the conference standings.
Bucknell is best known for its victory over Kansas in the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The Bison, who have also defeated Pittsburgh, Syracuse, DePaul and St. Joseph's over the last 13 months, travel to Army on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
