HAMDEN, Conn. - Bucknell's women's tennis team had a tough day of competition as it completed day two at the Quinnipiac Invitational in Hamden, Conn., early Saturday evening. Rheanna Gaskin and Caitlin Baffa are the only Bison to advance to tomorrow's conclusion of the tournament.
Gaskin and Baffa won two doubles matches in order to progress in the main draw bracket. The pair defeated a duo from the University of Connecticut, 8-4, then went on to upset a team from Seton Hall, 8-6.
Winning in the back draw side of the bracket were Chelsea Mills, Paulina Gamboa and Camille Simonetti. Each girl bounced-back from being defeated yesterday and won today's consolation matches, to finish the tournament with personal records of 1-1.
"The competition was tough," said assistant coach Steve Monge, "but our girls played well against some good teams."
Gaskin and Baffa will conclude their trip to Hamden when the tournament wraps up tomorrow morning.
