Bison Women's Tennis Conclude Second Day of Bloomsburg Invitational

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Bison women's tennis team concluded their season opening tournament on Sunday afternoon at Bloomsburg, playing two doubles matches and one singles. Chelsea Mills and Paulina Gamboa finished the weekend undefeated, each with a total record of 6-0 (3-0 in singles matches and 3-0 in doubles).
Mills defeated Bloomsburg's Iida Hokkaned, 6-3, 6-2, in her lone singles match of the day. Partnered with Gamboa, Mills dominated a pair from Villanova, 8-1, in the first doubles match-up of the day. In the other doubles round, the pair also was in command against a Binghamton duo, 8-2.
Gamboa's third victory of the day came in a singles contest versus Lyndsey Wykoff from Bloomsburg, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bison women, as a group, dominated Bloomsburg, winning all eight singles matches played. Veronica Brown (6-3, 6-3), Ashley Globerman (6-0, 7-6 (2)), Joanna Grossman (6-2, 6-3), Caitie Baffa (7-6, 6-4), Camille Simonetti (6-2, 6-1) and Tiffany Card (6-7 (4), 6-2, 10-8) all were part of the eight-man triumph.
The Bucknell women are off to a strong start this season and plan to build on from this weekend's success next weekend, Sept. 17-18, as it hosts the Bucknell Invitational.
