Marjorie Grap Garners Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten) has been named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance at last weekend's Patriot League Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Grap won a pair of gold medals at the championships, earning her the Outstanding Field Athlete of the Meet award.
Grap secured the first Bison gold medal of the weekend, besting the discus field with a toss of 134-3 (40.93m), on Friday afternoon. The sophomore earned her second first-place on Saturday, winning the shot put with a mark of 43-9 (13.33m). She also gave a commendable performance in the hammer, earning the silver medal with a throw of 165-8 (50.51m).
The sophomore contributed a total of 28 towards her team's second-consecutive PL outdoor title. The Bison tore through their opponents, posting 209.50 points to win the meet by over 50 points. Grap and her sophomore teammates are now 4-for-4 in PL competition, winning a pair of indoor titles and two outdoor crowns. Individually, Grap has won a total of four individual PL gold medals.
Grap has picked up several awards during the outdoor season, winning Patriot League and ECAC Field Athlete of the Week honors for the week of April 11.
With her conference titles, Grap gained a pair of bids to the NCAA East Regional Championships, to be held on May 27-28, in Randall's Island, N.Y. Grap and her Bison teammates will travel to Princeton, N.J., this weekend for the ECAC Championships. Athletes who have met the conference's qualifying standards will be eligible to compete. Over 10 Bison will make the trip.
