BISON WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD WINS SECOND-CONSECUTIVE PATRIOT LEAGUE TITLE!

EASTON, Pa. - Ann Doty, Marjorie Grap and Christa Sawko all won individual titles on the way to the Bucknell women's track and field team's second-consecutive victory at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, Saturday at Fisher Field in Easton, Pa. The title is the sixth outdoor in the last seven years. Bucknell posted a total of six individual champions and one relay gold on the weekend.
The Bison women never trailed in the meet, scoring 209.50 points to blast the competition over 50 points. The Bison seniors finish their careers with an impressive four indoor Patriot League titles and three outdoor crowns. Bucknell dominated the competition scoring in 21 of 22 events.
Doty kept her impressive streak alive, winning her fourth career Patriot League title in only her fourth try. The sophomore jumped a personal-best leap of 39-0 ½ (11.90m) for her second career outdoor title. Lauren Bricker followed with a third-place showing, leaping a season-best mark of 37-6 ¾.
Grap topped the shot put field with a heave of 43-9 (13.33m). The win was the second of the championships for Grap, who struck gold in the discus on Friday. The sophomore is the only Bison athlete to win two titles this weekend. She was named the Field Athlete of the Meet for her efforts.
Sawko buried the field in the last 200-meters of the 800-meter run to earn her first career PL outdoor title. The sophomore ran a personal-best and NCAA Regional qualifying time of 2:09.63 to top the field. Bricker added a fifth place finish in 2:14.82 while Kerryann Branker earned sixth-place honors running 2:17.24 to place first in the third heat of the event.
Nina Reinhardt and Danielle Todman opened up the day for the Bison, posting a two-three finish in the heptathlon. Reinhardt scored a total of 4154 points for the silver medal while Todman took the bronze with a tally of 4131.
In an another two-three finish, Jen Marsh and Sawko combined for 14 points towards the Bison total, with Marsh finishing second in a personal-best time of 4:33.57. Sawko wasn't far behind, crossing the finish line in 4:34.28, for third-place honors.
The Bison got two more scoring performance in the javelin as freshman Beverly Rogers earned second-place honors with a toss of 141-11 (43.26m). Danielle Brown followed in fourth place with a heave of 131-3 (40.02m). Rogers was named the Rookie of the Meet for her efforts in the competition.

Monique Boley capped off her final Patriot League Championships with a bronze medal in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 57.45. Amy Calvo followed in fourth place in 57.52. Also in the sprints, Lanewala placed fourth in the 200-meters, running a season-best time of 25.63. Tolu Fayanjuola notched a fourth-place finish in the final of the 100-meter dash, running a time of 12.50.
Fayanjuola also tied for third in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-5 (1.65m), making the height on a clutch jump just minutes before the start of the 100. Denise Manero earned the sixth-place spot, jumping 5-1 (1.55m).
In the hurdles, Melanie Buczko scored a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.07. Catherine Trenacoste just missed scoring, finishing seventh in 15.26. Trenacoste and Kat Allen both scored in the 400-meter hurdles with Trenacoste in fifth in 1:04.61 and Allen in sixth in 1:05.23.
Another pair of Bison provided scoring finishes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with Christy Totten leading the way in fourth place with a time of 11:35.71. Kelly Raffety added a fifth-place effort, crossing the finish line in 11:43.52.
The Bison also scored in the 4x100-meter relay, placing third in the field in Bucknell season-best time of 48.61. The squad consisted of Sarah VandenBroek, Chessa Forer, Rehana Lanewala, and Tolu Fayanjuola. In the 4x400-meter relay, the team of Boley, Bricker, Allen and Sawko ran to a silver medal finish, clocking 3:54.02.
Bison head coach Kevin Donner was named Women's Coach of Year following the competition.
Bucknell will head into the ECAC Championships on May 12-14 in Princeton, N.J. Bison who have met the event's qualifying standards will be eligible to compete.
