LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell freshman infielder Heather Haskin was named the Patriot League Softball Rookie of the Week for the second time this season on Monday. The Noblesville, Ind., native hit .571 with two runs batted in last week as the Bison posted a 3-1 record in their four games.
After not drawing an at bat in a doubleheader split against Colgate on Thursday, Haskin went 4-for-7 during a home doubleheader sweep of Lafayette Sunday. She registered a pair of hits in each game and had one run batted in during each contest.
Haskin, who scored one run and stole one base, also played errorless defense at shortstop, handling all 11 of her chances cleanly.
For the season, Haskin is hitting .250 with seven runs batted in and six runs scored. She is also tied for the team lead with three stolen bases.
Bucknell (15-18, 8-10 Patriot League) secured a spot in next weekend's Patriot League Tournament with the 8-0 win over Lafayette in the first game Sunday. The Bison, who qualified for the tournament for the second consecutive year, will be the fourth seed and will open with host and top seed Lehigh Saturday morning, April 30, at 9 a.m. Before that, Bucknell will close out its home slate with a non-conference doubleheader against Delaware at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27.
