PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Bucknell women's lacrosse team had a tough night under miserable weather conditions, falling 18-1 at Rutgers in a game that was stopped with 11:14 to play with snow blanketing the field. The Bison, who were coming off a strong performance in Sunday's Patriot League victory over Holy Cross, fell to 2-6 on the season, while Rutgers improved to 3-2.
Freshman Molly Aufiero registered her first collegiate point at the 18:47 mark of the second period when she fed classmate Ashley Flood for Bucknell's lone tally of the night. Rutgers scored twice in the opening two minutes of the game and led 14-0 before the Bison found the net.
Katie Batiuk scored four goals, while Kate Shomo, Anne Marchitello and Valerie Depelteau registered three each. Lindsay Rising had a goal and three assists. Rutgers outshot Bucknell 29-7.
The Bison, who sit atop the Patriot League standings with a 2-0 record, face another tough non-conference foe on the road on Saturday when they visit Virginia Tech at 1 p.m.
