Bison Women's Tennis Slides Past Seton Hall 4-3 to Remain Undefeated on the Season

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bison junior Chelsea Mills found herself in a must-win situation on Friday night on the tennis courts at Gerhard Fieldhouse. With the team score tied 3-3 and one point up for grabs, Mills defeated Seton Hall's Iva Gyurgina, 6-4, 6-3, at six singles to secure the 4-3 win for Bucknell, which improves to 5-0 on the spring season.
The Bison came out strong to win the doubles points with Nada Curcic and Veronica Brown taking out Viviana Figueroa and Iva Gyurgina at one doubles, 8-3. Daniella Shtemberg and Tanya Sichko also added a doubles win beating Ebru Burdurglu and Nadja Sein, 8-6.
Curcic notched her second win of the at one singles, besting Figueroa, 6-3, 6-4. Sichko was another double-winner as she defeated Sein at three singles, 6-2, 6-7, and led 5-4 when Sein retired.
The Bison will head to Orlando, Fla. for spring break this week. Bucknell will play matches from Sunday, March 13, through Tuesday, March 15. Their first contest will be against Stephen F. Austin on Sunday at 8 a.m.
