Bucknell Puts 13 Women, Five Men on Indoor Track and Field All-Patriot League Teams

LEWISBURG, Pa. - After winning their fourth-consecutive Patriot League title last weekend, the Bucknell women's indoor track and field team garnered a PL-best 13 All-League student-athletes, announced by league offices on Wednesday. The Bison men added five all-league selections to the Bucknell total. Bison head coach Kevin Donner received the Women's Coach of the Year award for the fourth-straight year.
Lauren Bricker (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), Ann Doty (Punxsutawney, Pa./Punxsutawney Area), Marjorie Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten), Kayla Halloran (Norwell, Mass./Norwell), Nina Reinhardt (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Christa Sawko (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) were all first team all-league honorees for their gold medal performances at last weekend's championships. Grap was the lone double-winner striking gold in both the shot put and weight throw. Bricker, Sawko and Halloran were tops on the track with wins in the 800-meters, 1,000-meters and 5,000-meters, respectively. Doty won her second-straight gold in the triple jump while Reinhardt won her first career PL gold in the pentathlon.
Taking silver medals last weekend and second-team all-league honors were Monique Boley (Alexandria, Va./Washington Lee) in the 500-meters, Melanie Buczko (Butler, Pa./Butler) in the 60-meter hurdles, Amy Calvo (Trenton, N.J./Lawrence) in the 400-meters and the 4x800-meter relay, Tolu Fayanjuola (Providence, R.I./Classical) in the long jump, Jennifer Marsh (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) in the 4x800, Elizabeth Pendleton (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) in the weight, and Danielle Todman in the pentathlon (Plainfield, N.J./Bishop George Ahr). Also making appearances on the second-team were Bricker (4x800), Halloran (3,000-meters), and Sawko (4x800).
Bucknell registered the fourth-most all-league athletes on the men's side with Mike Mellas (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) earning second-team honors for his second place performance in the heptathlon and the highest individual finish for the Bison men. The team of James Redmond (Medford, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep.), Faizal Asumda (Danville, Pa./Danville), Wallace Campbell (Montgomery, Ala./Montgomery Academy), and Kevin Brown (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) received second-team honors after winning silver medals in the distance medley relay.
Next up for the Bison teams is the ECAC/IC4A Championships on March 5-6 in Boston, Mass. Bison athletes who have met the qualifying standards or won a PL event will be eligible to compete.
