LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell senior Jennifer Marsh (Clearfield, Pa./Clearfield) has been named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week after her event-winning and record-breaking performance in the 1,000-meter run on Saturday at the Bucknell Winter Classic. Marsh ran a blazing time of 2:54.21 to better the previous school record of 2:54.35, set by Pamela Richardson in 1998.
Marsh's time is the top mark in the Patriot League this season, as well as an ECAC qualifying mark. This weekend's performance is her second individual win of the season after topping the 800 field at the Bucknell Heptagonal on Jan. 22. Marsh is also ranked seventh in the PL in the 800 and eighth in the mile. Additionally, she was a member of the first place distance medley relay at the Penn State Relays (Jan. 15). The team's time of 12:03.34 is the second-best in the PL.
Marsh and the rest of the three-time defending PL champion Bison women's track and field squad enter the championship portion of the indoor season this weekend with the Patriot League Championships hosted by Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. The meet begins on Feb. 18 at 12 p.m. and concludes on Sunday, Feb. 20.
