LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore forward Hope Foster (Washington, D.C./Dunbar) has been named the Lewisburg Hotel Bison Athlete of the Week after posting career highs in points, rebounds and blocked shots against High Point at the Air Force Classic last weekend. She was also named to the all-tournament team at the Air Force Classic after totaling 30 points, 28 rebounds and 10 blocks in two games.
Foster helped the Bison to a 71-60 win over High Point with 24 points, 18 rebounds and seven blocks. The seven blocks tied the Bucknell single-game record held by Stacy Spitko. The double-double was the second in three games for Foster, who made 8 of 15 field goals and 8 of 10 free throws in the contest, which the Bison played without leading scorer Lindsey Hollobaugh. It was the third straight game in which Foster grabbed at least 10 rebounds.
Bucknell lost to host Air Force, 58-41, in the first game of the two-game tournament, but Foster had a solid outing with six points and 10 rebounds. She also blocked three shots.
Foster is averaging 10.1 points and a team-high 9.6 rebounds per game this season. The Washington, D.C., native leads the Patriot League in blocks with 27 (3.9 per game) and is second in the league in rebounding.
With the 10 blocks last week Foster climbed to ninth on the Patriot League career blocks list with 99 rejections in her two-year career. She ranks fourth on the Bucknell career list, four behind Susie Hopper, who holds third place.
The Bison are idle until Dec. 17 when they travel to Maryland Eastern Shore for a 6 p.m. game.
