LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Patriot League announced the 2005 all-league cross country teams on Wednesday morning in Center Valley, Pa. Bucknell juniors Jenny Stevens (Laceyville, Pa./ Wyalusing Valley) and Leanna Nastase (Beaverdale, Pa./Forest Hills) received first-team honors, while sophomore Erin Cranmer-Hart (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), fellow junior Lauren Bricker (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) and senior Kayla Halloran (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) all received second team recognition.
The five all-league recipients led their team to a first-place finish, this past Saturday, at the PL Championships, hosted by Lehigh, in Bethlehem, Pa.
Stevens, the team's top runner for most of the season, finished first for the Bison at the PL Championships, and fourth overall with a time of 21:14, while Nastase finished second on the squad and sixth overall, with a time of 21:37, to claim spots on the first team. Nastase finished in 12th place at last year's meet and earned a spot on the all-league second team.
Cranmer-Hart finished third for the Orange and Blue, ninth overall (21:47), to grab a spot on the second team. Bricker finished two places behind Cranmer-Hart, (11th overall, 21:51), while Halloran was right on Bricker's heels in 12th place overall, fifth for the Bison (21:54), to snatch the last all-league honor for Bucknell.
The head coach of the Bison runners, Kevin Donner, received the PL's Women's Coach of the Year award this season for his team's fine performance at the Championships.
Bucknell will return to action on Saturday, November 12, at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, held on the same course as the PL Championships were held, with the squad hoping to earn a chance to run at the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, November 21.
